Distant Blue continue to step into their bigger and bolder sound with their new EP titled 'MYMINDIS OUTOFME'. Although Distant Blue have never really been known for 'playing it safe', this EP is the most experimental for them yet, with a complete upgrade in style and genre. They've introduced a more upbeat style with raspy vocals and heavy breakdowns creating an explosive sound!
After the release of Tongue Tied in February earlier this year, Distant Blue introduced their fans to their new raucous sound which was the start of a new era for them. Tongue Tied consists of boisterous verses and an intense backdrop of guitar along with frantically energetic drums creating a raw sound that causes carnage when played live.
After the astonishing response from fans, they continued to go down this route, updating their style a bit more with every track.
It wasn’t long till the release of ‘Lucid Liar (Novocaine)’. With one of the catchiest bass lines and guitar riffs, this track will be stuck in your head for days. It’s brought together beautifully with strong vocals that reach a powerful dynamic during the chorus. The buoyant drums and ferocious breakdown, they create a lively number that hooks your interest instantly.
Unlike anything they’ve released before, at the heart of their EP Distant Blue added ‘Blue Noise’, an atmospheric instrumental separating the two halves of the EP. ‘Blue Noise’ creates a very stimulating vibe, progressively getting more ambitious throughout the track. The end of the song creates the perfect set up for the second half of the EP, starting with ‘Come and Join The Party’.
Just when you thought they couldn’t surprise you anymore, Distant Blue go full Rage Against The Machine style with ‘Come and Join The Party’. This track is more than just a song, it’s more of a radical, political statement with lyrics touching an area they’ve not gone before, combined with a punchy, rapid, exhilarating sound creating a masterpiece designed to do more than entertain but to educate and get the audience listening.
To finish off this knockout EP, Distant Blue created the brilliance of a song that is ‘Opiate’. This thrilling track is made up of heartfelt lyrics with a very distinct, bold and ambient sound, creating a beautifully dramatic ending to this breathtaking EP. It’s dynamic yet harmonic, with melodious riffs and a strong beat. It’s over-all a wonderful track, placed perfectly finishing of the over-all wonderful EP.
Following the release of the EP, Distant Blue are going on to playing a headline show in their hometowns beloved Bodega, on the 17th November. After selling out the Bodega when they last headlined back in September 2018, it’s highly expected tickets will go fast for this show.
