Distant Blue continue to step into their bigger and bolder sound with their new EP titled 'MYMINDIS OUTOFME'. Although Distant Blue have never really been known for 'playing it safe', this EP is the most experimental for them yet, with a complete upgrade in style and genre. They've introduced a more upbeat style with raspy vocals and heavy breakdowns creating an explosive sound!
After the release of Tongue Tied in February earlier this year, Distant Blue introduced their fans to their new raucous sound which was the start of a new era for them. Tongue Tied consists of boisterous verses and an intense backdrop of guitar along with frantically energetic drums creating a raw sound that causes carnage when played live.
After the astonishing response from fans, they continued to go down this route, updating their style a bit more with every track.
It wasn’t long till the release of ‘Lucid Liar (Novocaine)’. With one of the catchiest bass lines and guitar riffs, this track will be stuck in your head for days. It’s brought together beautifully with strong vocals that reach a powerful dynamic during the chorus. The buoyant drums and ferocious breakdown, they create a lively number that hooks your interest instantly.
Unlike anything they’ve released before, at the heart of their EP Distant Blue added ‘Blue Noise’, an atmospheric instrumental separating the two halves of the EP. ‘Blue Noise’ creates a very stimulating vibe, progressively getting more ambitious throughout the track. The end of the song creates the perfect set up for the second half of the EP, starting with ‘Come and Join The Party’.
Just when you thought they couldn’t surprise you anymore, Distant Blue go full Rage Against The Machine style with ‘Come and Join The Party’. This track is more than just a song, it’s more of a radical, political statement with lyrics touching an area they’ve not gone before, combined with a punchy, rapid, exhilarating sound creating a masterpiece designed to do more than entertain but to educate and get the audience listening.
To finish off this knockout EP, Distant Blue created the brilliance of a song that is ‘Opiate’. This thrilling track is made up of heartfelt lyrics with a very distinct, bold and ambient sound, creating a beautifully dramatic ending to this breathtaking EP. It’s dynamic yet harmonic, with melodious riffs and a strong beat. It’s over-all a wonderful track, placed perfectly finishing of the over-all wonderful EP.
Following the release of the EP, Distant Blue are going on to playing a headline show in their hometowns beloved Bodega, on the 17th November. After selling out the Bodega when they last headlined back in September 2018, it’s highly expected tickets will go fast for this show.
You can pre-order ‘MYMINDISOUTOFME’ HERE and book your tickets to their headline show at The Bodega on the 17th November HERE

Marvins Revenge: IN YOUR MIND
On the 14th of June, Marvin's Revenge treated us to yet another amazing tune: In Your Mind. After the release of Clockwork Pizza Press a few months before, no one's been able to stop listening to them! Now after releasing In Your Mind, they're really showing their true capabilities as a band.

In Your Mind perfectly shows their Grunge influence with a thrashy drum beat to get your headbanging in the chorus and a thick guitar sound with a rolled-off treble tone and a level of distortion and fuzz played with a gritty timbre of the vocals. The song is a perfect mixture between a jazzy tune and a hardcore rock song, gradually getting heavier towards the end with a fast, shreddy ending to it to create a dramatic finish to the song.
Marvin's Revenge always manages to create completely incredible songs that you can't stop listening to and In Your Mind is no exception.

Dot to Dot Nottingham 2019
Written by Niamh Christian
The very best way to enjoy your May bank holiday Sunday is at Nottingham's Dot to Dot festival. An all-day festival across all of Nottingham's best venues, with not only some of Nottingham's very best local artists but also some bigger names, it brings the very best Nottingham has to offer to the music scene all into one jam-packed day.
THE MOCKING JAYS
SUNFLOWER THIEVES

https://www.instagram.com/its_niamhmarie/
Over at Albert's was acoustic duo Sunflower Thieves playing a relaxing set that had people sat on the floor watching. Both singers sang with beautiful vocals and placed with innovative guitar, their determined lyrics had the audience all leaning in and opening their hearts to the magic that these two brought.
KING NO ONE

https://www.instagram.com/its_niamhmarie/
If you didn't catch King No One's set on Rock City Main Stage, you missed out! Their incredible live performance got the whole crowd jumping, sweating and losing their minds. A key element for putting on a show is an interactive frontman and very few do it better than Zach Lount, his brilliance making it impossible for anyone to not be completely drawn in. People flock to Rock City to party and nobody brought the party quite like King No One did.
THE HONEYMOON SUITE
https://www.instagram.com/its_niamhmarie/
Honeymoon Suite always bring their satisfyingly thick, chunky bass and playful slides to every performance bringing a genuine warm sense of enjoyment for those watching. The indie dream four-piece from Derby are known for the energy they bring through their funky riffs and catchy chorus and they brought nothing short of this to their Dot to Dot set, having to make do with the tightly packed out venue Suede didn't prevent them for putting on a show-stopping performance.
MOON

https://www.instagram.com/indiehorse/
Bodega may have a brilliant stage upstairs but their downstairs bar area isn't the most roomy, however, Moon managed to make the most of the stage...and the stairs. They brought a calming mystical atmosphere with their Jazzy riffs propelling us into a sumptuous meditation as we watched. There's no denying their songs are well crafted and delivered it in a melodically explorative style.
LEFT HAND LANE

https://www.instagram.com/its_niamhmarie/
Over at the Angel Microbrewery, Left Hand Lane brought a storm! Bringing raucous energy and sending the rowdy crowd nuts with their latest single 'Skank'. Blowing off a lot of sweat and steam, it's hard to tell who went wilder; the band or the crowd. The interactivity shows nothing less than that their sharp and enraged agenda resonates deeply into their performances as well as their musical ability.
DISTANT BLUE
https://www.instagram.com/its_niamhmarie/
Headlining 31K's stage this year was none other than Distant Blue. Despite having a much smaller stage than they still brought a hell-raising show to finish the day with. Playing new songs such as their latest single 'Lucid Liar', they brought the roof down with phenomenal energy that had the crowd eating out the palm of their hand. What they may have lacked due to the size of the stage they definitely made up for in charisma and determination. Embracing the small venue, frontman Ed made his way into the crowd, with the crowd forming a circle around him, made a true statement out of their political anthem "Come and Join the Party" which is yet to be released. It's an insanely strong show from a young band who exude enough confidence and energy for a stage twice as big, there's no better way to tire yourself out at the end of the day than coming to see these guys riotously closing the stage.

AC Audio Presents: CLONK // DISTANT BLUE // MARVIN'S REVENGE // SCOTT MAKEPEACE
Written by Niamh Christian
Saturday 27th August, Ac Audio Nottingham brought a night full of some of Nottingham's most energetic, thrilling, upcoming artists to Alberts.
Kicking off the night was acoustic rocker Scott Makepeace. Singing soulful folk songs that bring a positive feeling to all those that listen, it was a beautifully peaceful start to show.
After a calming set by Scott, the boys in Marvin's Revenge took over the stage. Playing some well-loved, fan favourites such as 'Lisa' as well as showing off their newest single 'Clockwork Pizza Press', Marvin's Revenge managed to put on an energetic show and bring a lot of fun to the stage with them.
Headlining the stage of this brilliant line up is none other than Nottingham's very own Clonk. Making the stage their own with their filthy hooks and heavy riffs, Clonk brought the crowd to their feet got everybody feeling the energy. After seeing Clonk's set, I can conclude: Ed has got REALLY floppy hair.
That's a tough one, Have you heard of an artist called Alex Kavan? He's a local artist from South Africa originally. Yeah, he's up and coming. He's like a loop, looper artist, does all the loop stuff. Played with him in Coluna a few months ago, a really good artist. Watch out for him.
L: We get the battle bus back down with a few drinks
J: Yeah we call it the battle bus, it's a bit of a joke. Every time we have a gig that we want all of our friends to come to because we're from like an hour away, we get this bus that Luke's Dad can get from work and then get all our friend on it and travel to Nottingham or Sheffield or wherever.
O: It's a good laugh
Who would your dream tour be with?
L: Idles
O: Idles
J: Idles definitely. I think that'd just be carnage.
O: There's a lot of good bands at the minute, a lot of good bands coming up, like Slaves, Fontaines DC
J: Yeah well Slaves are massive, they've like reached it now. But I mean Idles are quickly taking over Slaves
O: Yeah?
J: I think it's because they play live so much
O: They do tour all the time
J: And they do write really really good songs.
O: Really deep, energetic, crazy
Have you got anything big coming up?
J: We have a gig like every weekend in May. Our next one is Friday at the Chameleon supporting Damn Cargo. That one shall be really good because we've played the Chameleon before and we love it there. It's probably my favourite we've played, to be honest. And we've got one on the 10th of May. It hasn't been organised properly yet but we think it's happening because we asked the guys and they said yeah but haven't sent me any details yet. For the next couple of weeks, we've got quite a few coming up.
O: All in Nottingham, we've got a gig coming up in London as well!
J: London! Yeah, how mads that?
O: June 8th
J: We're very surprised at that because someone just literally messaged our page saying heard you on the radio, do you want to come play down in London. There were a few gigs we could've played, one was like the fricking O2 academy but you had to get 50 people to that as an agreement but yeah we wouldn't be able to get 50 down to London. So we're playing somewhere called the Rock Steady which is actually quite a nice venue from looking at it online. It's got a good rating. And it's a Saturday night.
What would you say is your favourite song to play live?
L: In your mind
O: In your mind
J: It's the one we play first. It's like the punchiest one we have and it's really loud
O: Need only is really fun
J: Yeah, we're releasing in your mind in June and that's probably our favourite song. It's my favourite of the bands, to be honest.
Finally, what is your ultimate goal as a band? What's your biggest dream?
O: We just want to take it as far as we can really.
J: As far as possible is probably the best answer for that.
K: We got bored
P: It started off with a riff really, didn't it?
E: Yeah it's proper riffy
P: Hectic, bouncy, energetic, crazy
P: We've got a show in Sheffield on the 3rd of June. That's going to be our first show outside Nottingham and we're really excited
E: That's the one.
K: Argh you said both of them! Probably 'Whirlpool'.
K: Woah
K: Haha, jumping into a drum kit.
G: I think it's very loose but we try our best to use that in our live shows as much as possible. We want to keep it as raw as we can because I think it's that kind of music if it's energetic and it's raw and you can hold it together
F: Basically none of us are very good apart from Troy.
T: I mean I wholeheartedly disagree with that.
F: Troy hold us together, Troy is the glue
What are some big influences behind your music?
F: Like Mozart
F: We have an argument about it
T: We'll come up with riffs at home and then take months to be confident enough to show them each other
G: It's mostly collaborative, one of us comes up with an idea then we look at it together
E: Probably when you broke your bass string
G: We were playing a little venue called the Maze in Nottingham. Everyone plays the Maze
F: Little venue, like we've done so much better than that
T: I think Mo fest was pretty crazy
E: Mo fest yeah that was fun
E: Crying
T: Living on the streets, I'd be homeless.
E: I really like 'Floppy Hair' because it's early enough in the set that the energies still there and we're not too exhausted to play it and we can put everything into it
T: Also it's named after you
E: Honestly it could be named anything and I'd still like it
T: Frazier has really floppy hair, doesn't quite fall off the tongue the same
E: It's just fun to play
G: That's a good question
T: If the Beatles could do a reunion tour, think we'd get a big crowd there. It's probably be Sabbath for me
G: Wu-Tang Clan

Next up was rock and rollers Distant Blue, bringing some old songs they haven't played for a while due to the absence of a bass player. Despite having to play as a three-piece, losing a guitar pick, breaking a guitar string AND having a guitar strap come undone halfway through a song, they still managed to bring their usual hair raising performance.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
I'm mainly an acoustic artist, so probably folk music touching onto rock music, that's why I got this gig here because they said they couldn't get an acoustic act who could play with rock bands until they saw me.
I've heard your album that you released last year: No one's in charge. Who or what inspires your music?
Everything you see around you basically, social commentary, not to be cliche but there's plenty to write about when you look out your window isn't there?
I try to make songs positive because anyone can be political and rebellious but we've got to leave it on a positive note otherwise what's the point?
I try to make songs positive because anyone can be political and rebellious but we've got to leave it on a positive note otherwise what's the point?
Is there a big message you try to get across with your music?
Like I said, try to be positive. Aye, the world's shit but what you gonna do about it, yanno what I mean?
What is your favourite of your songs?
Depends what mood I'm in. If it's a lively gig I've got a song called 'Run Hide Tell', it's based on government guidelines we've been given when you're abroad and a terrorist attack happens. That's what you're told to do, run hide tell. It was a couple of years ago when the Manchester attack happened and my sister was outside the venue at the time waiting to be picked up after I finished work. So like that was when the government guidelines came out: run hide tell. It's an energetic song too, sort of flamenco rock music. So that's probably my favourite song to play live at the minute.
What's the best gig you've ever played?
Best gig? Probably Tramlines in Sheffield, that's a good gig. Is it Bierkeller? Is it German? Bierkeller yeah, really good atmosphere, really good people, met some good promoters through it all, got good connections.
If you were to go on tour with any artist, who would it be?
That's a tough one, Have you heard of an artist called Alex Kavan? He's a local artist from South Africa originally. Yeah, he's up and coming. He's like a loop, looper artist, does all the loop stuff. Played with him in Coluna a few months ago, a really good artist. Watch out for him.
MARVIN'S REVENGE
You released the song 'Clockwork Pizza Press' last month, how has the reaction been from fans?
J: Pretty good to be fair, better than all of the ones we've released so far I'd say. We got more listenings on this one than we had initially on the release point of others. We got a lot of good feedback too.
Where do you get the inspiration for your songs from?
J: We'll just listen to some music and Ollie will come up with the guitar part, Luke will come up with the bass part.
O: Clockwork came from like early Stone Roses, indie, the Smith kinda. And the chorus is sort of Clash, the Damned and a bit of Nirvana.
J: It'll literally just be like a riff then we'll make up a song out of it.
Is that your usual songwriting process?
J: Yeah pretty much
O: Just from jamming out
J: It's hardly ever just one of us writes an entire song, one of us writes a part of a song then we roll of it.
What artist's would you say you get a lot of influence from?
J: When we play live I'd say we mainly get a lot of influence from Nirvana or Foo Fighters because them playing live is amazing. But our sound has got to be Idles I'd say. It expands massively because we're all into different music. Ollie's really into drum and bass, but like we're all into the Beatles as well, and Dead Kennedy's.
How would you describe your music to someone who's never heard it before?
J: You mean like a live set? Probably
O: Loud
J: One word would be energetic, I'd say. Because we focus all our energy into our live shows. We try to put every single bit of effort into it. What about you Luke, you've not said much?
L: Just like loud, and try to have a good time
What is you're craziest gig story?
O: I think my mate getting punched in Sheffield
J: Oh God yeah. We played a gig in Sheffield just before Christmas in Cafe Toton. It was a decent gig. We played and then the band after played and they were playing 'Mardy Bum' by Arctic Monkeys, and everyone had been pushing each other around a bit. One guy was getting a bit mardy, he'd been drinking quite a bit but also he seemed like the type like it wasn't really his scene. And so he literally just went up to one of our friends and just punched him in the face. He cut open his eyebrow, he had blood all down his face, he got a massive black eye and he's still got a little scar above his eyebrow. So yeah that was pretty mental.L: We get the battle bus back down with a few drinks

Lucid Liar, you released today and it's very different to most of your other songs. What influenced the change?
K: We got bored
E: We got bored of playing boring music and wanted to do something a bit outrageous and a bit
P: A bit out of our comfort zone
E: Yeah man definitely. So we've all got like heavy influences and we don't really go into them a lot. So it was kind of cool to do that.
What was the idea behind Lucid Liar?
P: It started off with a riff really, didn't it?
E: Yeah it's proper riffy
P: Something that'll get people bouncing
E: It got a lot of work done on it in the studio, especially lyrically. The last section, a lot of that was written in the studio because it was an idea that our producer had. He was like just go mental for that bit, so we did and it turned out pretty good.
P: The producer had a lot if input
To someone who has never heard you before, how would you describe your music and live shows?
P: Hectic, bouncy, energetic, crazy
E: Mad
P: Fierce
E: Yeah, Naughty!
Last year, you headlined Rough Trade and Bodega. Are there any other big shows you've got coming up?
K: It's a big step
E: The plan is we're gonna do these runs of shows that we've got set now, and then we're going to work towards dropping the EP and then we're going to get some bigger shows coming up after that for later in the year and early next year
K: It's gonna get serious in the new year. New year, new songs.
E: Trust me. New year, new tunes.
So the next big step will be the EP, right?
E: That's the one.
Can you name me a big turning point when this became a lot more real? It went from just jamming with your friends to this being serious.
E: Probably Kieron joining the band as a mate before he was in the band was a big turning point, for me anyway because before that all I cared about was being in a band with the best musicians you could get. But then that showed me you don't need someone that's grade A guitar, you just need someone who's your mate and who'll stick at it with you and enjoys working with you. What was your biggest turning point Kieron?
K: Joining the band in the first place. Probably headliningRough Trade. That was like the first big headline show.
P: Selling out the Bodega
E: The bodega show was mad
K: Me and My Big Mouth
P: It was weird to think because I remember seeing Gnarwolves years ago and we played that stage, but not only played it, we sold it out!
E: Yeah that was a big turning point.
If you weren't making music, what'd you be doing right now?
E: Playing football probably, if I never started music
P: Probably something in clothes
K: I dunno, probably writing shitty books or designing fucking games and shit.
What is each of your favourite songs to play live?
E: Of our own? It's got to be 'Come and Join the Party' man. I love doing 'Come and Join the Party'.
P: 'Lucid Liar'K: Argh you said both of them! Probably 'Whirlpool'.
E: Yeah? Nice.
K: It's more thrashy
If you could tour with any artist, alive or dead, who would it be?
K: Woah
E: I'd like to have toured with Motley Crue, after seeing that film. I think touring with Motley Crue would be fucking
K: Guns and Roses
P: Black Sabbath
K: Yeah Black Sabbath!
E: On a more chill vibe, I would have like to have toured with Matt Corby, not that that would ever happen. He's a cool guy man, I just wanna hang out with him innit.
What is your craziest gig story?
K: Haha, jumping into a drum kit.
E: Yeah, you smashing Peter's drum kit was pretty fun.
P: Fucking snare stand that I got two days ago, that's gone. Snapped clean off.
K: Straight up my arse.
E: Mines probably that Sitwell Tavern gig we did ages ago. When that sound tech started on me midway through doing a set. That was quite funny. He was like 'get off the stage you've had your half an hour', I was like fuck off mate, we've had our half am hour when I tell you we've had our half an hour
P: I just looked at you like what the fuck is going on

To someone that has never heard you before, how would you describe your music?
G: I think it's very loose but we try our best to use that in our live shows as much as possible. We want to keep it as raw as we can because I think it's that kind of music if it's energetic and it's raw and you can hold it together
F: Basically none of us are very good apart from Troy.
T: I mean I wholeheartedly disagree with that.
F: Troy hold us together, Troy is the glue
What are some big influences behind your music?
E: Am I gonna steal yours George
G: Probably, I think we copy really badly, bands like Slint and Drive like Jehu. But I don't like to think that we're all like that. Frazier's really into Radiohead. I really like hip hop and Ed really likes metal, Troy really like his classic stuff.F: Like Mozart
G: But I feel like when we play we've kind of got that raw sound like Sonic Youth. That's something we're trying to project.
How does your songwriting process go?
F: It doesn't. Like once in a Millenia
T: One of us just sort of brings in an idea don't theyF: We have an argument about it
T: We'll come up with riffs at home and then take months to be confident enough to show them each other
G: It's mostly collaborative, one of us comes up with an idea then we look at it together
What is your craziest gig story?
E: Probably when you broke your bass string
G: We were playing a little venue called the Maze in Nottingham. Everyone plays the Maze
F: Little venue, like we've done so much better than that
G: I broke a bass string so Frazier had to play the bass parts on a whammy pedal, down an octave. And I just had to sing into a microphone which I've never done before, and it was mad.
E: I broke a string too. It was chaotic really.
G: In craziness thoughT: I think Mo fest was pretty crazy
E: Mo fest yeah that was fun
T: That was because these two never drink and they had two beers before going on stage and just lost it.
F: Complete lightweights
If you weren't making music, what would you be doing right now?
E: Crying
T: Living on the streets, I'd be homeless.
What's your favourite song to play live?
F: 'Wafflestomp'
T: Yeah 'Wafflestomp'
G: I really like 'Creepy Song' but that's just because I get to switch guitars at the end.
T: Yeah 'Creepy Song's fun
G: They're all quite fun. I feel like our songs are just written to be played and we're having fun. If we're having fun then we're happy with the song.E: I really like 'Floppy Hair' because it's early enough in the set that the energies still there and we're not too exhausted to play it and we can put everything into it
T: Also it's named after you
E: Honestly it could be named anything and I'd still like it
T: Frazier has really floppy hair, doesn't quite fall off the tongue the same
E: It's just fun to play
If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be?
G: That's a good question
T: If the Beatles could do a reunion tour, think we'd get a big crowd there. It's probably be Sabbath for me
G: Wu-Tang Clan

Live Review: FOR THE GIRL - Rescue Rooms 06/04/2019
Written by Niamh Christian
ALL PHOTOS TAKEN BY @photosbysax

Supporting the feel-good pop band Deco alongside indie superstars Black Cats and Magpies, For The Girl opened up Rescue Rooms stage on April 6th. Opening with their single 'Wouldn't You Like To Know' released last year, which always starts the show off with a lot of energy and a powerful guitar solo.

Following that with the classics 'Breathe' and 'Phonics', getting everyone who knows them singing along, before singing the beautiful track 'My Poison' which we're all patiently waiting for the release of.

As a way to make sure the audience sings along, For The Girl always play a cover everyone knows. The audience went crazy as they blasted out Ricky Martin's 'Livin' la Vida Loca' and got everybody dancing. After playing one that everyone knows they then played one nobody knows.
For the first time, they played their newest song 'Goodbye Kiss'. It could've brought tears to my eyes, definitely a new favourite! I'm very looking forward to its release.
Finishing off with their well-known hit 'Where Did Time Go', For The Girl definitely stole the show! I can't wait till I'm no longer seeing them as a support, but headlining Rescue Rooms!

Marvins Revenge: CLOCKWORK PIZZA PRESS
Written by Niamh Christian
On the 15th March, Marvin's revenge released their second single Clockwork Pizza Press and the response has been brilliant. Having only discovering Marvin's Revenge recently, it was great to discover a band with such raw talent and the ability to create such brilliant music.

Clockwork Pizza Press contains everything you want in a song: catchy melody, alongside a quick beat, raspy vocals and a showstopping guitar solo thrown in the middle. Listening to it instantly makes you feel ready to get up and boogie.
The tone of the song starts so light and upbeat but soon takes a turn with nasty guitar riffs and a heavy finish to the song.

Despite playing together at Secondary School, Marvin's Revenge has only been together for just over a year, and Clockwork Pizza Press is their second single release. It was recorded at
Dubrek Studios in Derby by Jay Dean. The song came about because they wanted to create a really energetic song that'd make the crowd bounce and it's become one of their favourites to play live. I must admit, after listening to the song, I'm excited to see it Live.
If you also want to Catch Marvin's Revenge playing Clockwork Pizza Press live, come down to the Angel Microbrewery on the 27th April to catch them and Distant Blue supporting Clonk for an amazing night hosted by AC Audio.

The Mocking Jays: THE LOVE ERA RELEASE
Written by Niamh Christian
It's been nearly three weeks since the release of 'Close to You' and the hype is constantly building for the release of 'The Love Era' on the 9th March. 'Close to You' also had a music video released which consists of an elegant dancer and Eyeliner. They're third video so far and an impressive one at that, which goes hand in hand perfectly with the song itself.

On top of all that, Saturday 23rd 'Cold Hands' Premiered on BBC introducing East Midlands. Both the recent releases show a new side to the Jays and shows the extent of their musical ability. One thing you can always count on the Mocking Jays for is a banging love song, so a whole EP of banging love songs could not be delivered by a more fitting band.

On the day of 'The Love Era's release, The Mocking Jays are headlining the Bodega along with support from Distant Blue and Boats on the Ocean. If you haven't got your tickets yet I suggest you order them before they're all gone because this will be a show you do not want to miss!

Distant Blue: TONGUE TIED
It's been around a year since I first heard Distant Blue play 'Tongue Tied' live and I'm ever so excited for it to have finally been released. After the overwhelming success of 'Whirlpool' last June and 'Me and My Big Mouth' last September, it's been long overdue that they released a new track. After spending the beginning of January in the recording studio getting all the tracks for their upcoming EP it was only expected for the quality of this song to be impressive and it definitely lived up to expectations.

Reaching new boundaries for their musical ability, Distant Blue have pushed away from the Pop-punk sound of their first Mix tape 'Holy water' and are testing out heavier sounds, and successfully at that. With melodic guitar riffs and raspy vocals, 'Tongue Tied' is a brilliant addition to their already successful singles and has gotten fans excited for what they're going to bring out next.
Distant Blue's next show is to be at the Bodega on the 9th March supporting the Mocking Jays, be sure to catch them!

Sworn Amongst: BELIEVE
Sworn Amongst released their new single "Believe" on Friday the 22nd February, which was the first step on their new journey as a band. In the interview I did with Ashley Currie last December where he described their new EP as a 'rebrand' which will show a new, experimental side of the band.

All the songs on the EP are very personal to the members of the band and tell stories of what we as people go through every day. The new song radiates such passionate energy that as a listener you can feel the emotions put into making it. With a melodic intro into the song followed by a heavy riff breakdown, it truly shows the real beauty of metal. The distant echoey vocals in the bridge show them pushing their boundaries to reach new heights. Along with the track, they've released a new music video showing a girl nearly drowning in the bath. Both the video and the song tell a deep emotive story that will connect well with their fans. After hearing 'Believe' I'm extremely looking forward to what else Sworn Amongst will bring out that has 'never been seen by the band before'.
Along with the release of a new EP, Sworn Amongst will be doing a UK tour this March and a European tour this April, and have recently signed a worldwide deal with Famined Records in LA California!

Beat the Streets 2019
January’s not the same without a day festival on a Sunday across your favourite venues in Nottingham, all money going to help local charity framework, helping the homeless people of Nottingham.
THE DANDY LIONS
Kicking off Rock City’s main stage was the Dandy Lions, Nottingham’s very own outrageous glam rock 4-piece. Neon gear and feather boas, they really know how to get the audience pumped up for the rest of the day. Full of energy, it's impossible to not enjoy their show. In 2018 they were announced champions of Future Sound of Nottingham and got to kick of Splendours Main Stage, starting 2019 by kicking off Rock City main Stage for beat the streets is a brilliant way to start the year. Singing about everything from being ghosted to about eating too many sweets, they're a band that brings joy to the entire audience.

DISTANT BLUE
Rough Trade got absolutely packed when Distant Blue took on the stage. Just out of the studio after recording the music for their upcoming EP that's to be released in the next few months, they took the stage playing all their well known older songs as well as their newest release 'Me and my Big Mouth'.

DON'T FORGET RUPERT
2018 was more than successful for the boys in Don't Forget Rupert, with the release of their EP Full Circle and headlining both the Bodega and Rescue Rooms. To start of the new year, they took over Rock City main stage and oh boy did they do it well. They amazingly packed the place out and put on one hell of a show for the audience

THE MOCKING JAYS
The Mocking Jays played Rock City basement, supporting The Sheafs just a few months ago. They returned to the stage for Beat the Streets and literally had the crowd flooding through the doors. Clearly, they're gonna have to be on the main stage next year. It's hard not to enjoy a TMJ show with their upbeat tunes that make the whole crowd move.

ROB GREEN
I instantly became a Rob Green fan after Pride and Splendour festival. It's hard not to be, he has the kind of performance that pleases everyone. His talent strives through his singing and guitar playing as he not only plays his own songs but busts out some classics that the entire of Rock City main hall was singing along to.
